Kinja'd!!!

The 944 broke down for the 5th time in my ownership this morning on the way to work in a one-way road. Last time I broke down on a road (in the middle of an intersection during rush hour), I was honked at and yelled at and flipped off at by people who didn’t understand my hazardous plight. With 3 cars behind me, I was worried the same would happen again. And I was wrong.

Immediately, two ladies who were going for a walk, and the gentleman in the van behind me got out and helped push me onto the neighborhood side street. And another lady who was house-sitting at the house across from the car, offered me a ride to work, which I gleefully accepted as I had another mile to go and wouldn’t be able to walk or run for my life to get there on time. She gave me her number so I could periodically check up on the car every now and then, since I don’t get off work for another 9 hours.

I’m so very happy and blessed that I was able to be witness to some awesome people, and it goes to show that people today are very able and willing to help those in need and distress. Even if you’re a stranger, people can, and do give a damn about you. Even though the car is stuck where it is for now, my day has been made, solely because of the kindness of others.

What a wonderful morning. ^_^

Yes, people are awesome! There are many good people in this world, and you met some of them this morning.

That’s actually amazing. The base level I’d usually aim for is people not being jerks - no honking, maybe giving you a push off the road.

But someone letting you into their car and giving you their number is next level! Anyone could be a freak or an asshat, but these people didn’t let that get in the way of their good deed.

Awesome

That sucks about the car, but it’s nice to see there are still some good people left in this world.

There are plenty of good people in the world! They just come around when you least expect it, but I never ran out of hope. I’ve plenty of faith. I know that there are, and will be plenty more awesome people for me to meet! ^_^

That’s great! You know, being in an area like that and it being the weekend probably made a huge difference. But even still, those people are amazing for going out of their way to help!

Got any ideas about the car? Maybe try throwing your wallet at the battery? ;)

I know what’s causing it, it’s a problem I neglected and forgot about for two years that has finally made itself known. I need a new distributor cap and rotor.

Similar story when my car broke down in a shopping center. The security guard, several shoppers, and the lady who owned the salon that I happened to be driving in front of all came to help push it out of the way. People rock.

Hopefully the 944 is a quick and cheap fix.

I once helped push a small British roadster out of an intersection. It was very light.

When I had mine I couldn't believe how bad the terminals wore. If I remember it was a cheap fix though.

It is a cheap fix, one that I was briefly told about two years ago, but forgot to fix with all the other stuff I was doing on the car.

Just proof there are still good people in this world. After its all said and done, do a small payback. I’ve dropped off donuts or a fruit basket for people who have helped me. For the neighbor who gave me a can of gas for my emergency generator during a storm I gave a gift card for dinner out. And keep it in your mind to pay it forward too, its worth it for the good karma.

That’s awesome, I love when things like that happen. Reminds me of when my 6 series broke down in a residential area near where I live. The owner of the house I happened to come to a stop at came out to help me push the car into his driveway, and helped my try and diagnose the issue until he had to leave, but not before insisting that I could leave the car in his driveway until I got whatever parts I needed. Getting your faith in humanity restored is a good feeling.

Oh, that turned out to be distributor issues too, my rotor broke into three pieces

No one’s thought that of me at any point. and I’ve never been seen in a negative light driving my 944.

I did the plugs last winter, but the wires aren’t dry rotted or cracked so I assume they’re alright.

Yeah, I recently bought a red 944 as well and I couldn’t believe it: Literally EVERYONE likes my car. Everyone I know, even people who don’t know cars. Driving downtown Toronto I got a fair share of “hey nice 944!” and people taking pictures. No one thinks I’m a prick lol..

My car thankfully hasn’t pulled anything like that yet, although it helpfully decided to break down on our driveway once. AAA free tow was very convenient. Then there was that time my dad’s V70's fuel filter decided that letting fuel through was overrated so the wagon sat at our eye doctor’s shop while we were on vacation. When we got back, it fired right up and got it to the shop. Thankfully it looks like our Volvos choose very convenient locations to stop working.

I fragged the rear end today in the family Astro and some dude drove up in an older Cadillac, said it sounded like it was messed up bad, then asked if he could have $20 for gas.

Dafuq?
